Rain Forest

El Yunque is the only tropical rainforest in the US National Forest System. With over 240 species of plants and wildlife, it is a nature lovers dream. There are many trails through the mountainous rainforest that lead to rivers, waterfalls, pools and springs. The water is clean enough to drink and the pools are delightful for swimming. You can listen to the coquis, Puerto Ricos tree frogs as you relax.

From the observation point, 3.536 feet above sea level, you can see to Luquillo Beach all the way to the rain forest.
